Searching Standard: Meowth VMAX / Porygon-Z Deck

Hello and welcome to another episode of Searching Standard. In the Pokemon video game series, one of my favorite Pokemon is Meowth. With its Payday attack, you're rewarded with Poke Coins, which was an incentive for me to keep Meowth on my team. This week I have a deck for you from YouTuber, Flex Daddy Righteous, which features Meowth VMAX PR-SSH SWSH005. Let's get started by taking a look at the deck.

Meowth VMAX PR-SSH SWSH005 and Meowth V PR-SSH SWSH004 will be the main attackers in this deck. Meowth V PR-SSH SWSH004 has the Payday attack that deals a meager 30 damage, but also draws you a card. While you won't use this attack often, the card advantage it provides can be crucial. Meowth V PR-SSH SWSH004 also has the Slashing Claw attack, which can deal a fair amount of damage. Meowth VMAX PR-SSH SWSH005's G-Max Gold Rush attack is like Payday, but all grown up. It deals an impressive 200 damage and draws you three cards. Those extra cards will help you dominate games.

In order to use Meowth VMAX PR-SSH SWSH005's G-Max Gold Rush attack, you'll need to attach a lot of Energy. What better way to get the required Energy attached quickly than with the help of Porygon-Z UNB 157's Crazy Code Ability. With a little luck, you'll be able to attack for 200 damage as early as turn two. While this won't happen very often, when it does, you'll feel invincible.

Oranguru SSH 148 is a great supporting Pokemon for this deck. With its Primate Wisdom Ability, you can switch a card from your hand with the top card of your deck. This works great when used in conjunction with Rotom Phone CPA 64, as it effectively allows you to put any card from the top five cards of your deck into your hand. That makes finding the card you need much easier.

This batch of Pokemon are included primarily for their Abilities, which allow you to draw additional cards. You'll never be able to attack with either Crobat V DAA 104 or Dedenne-GX UNB 57 due to their Energy requirements, but it could be possible to attack with Snorlax VIV 131's Body Slam attack. It's not as efficient to use this attack as it is to use the attacks of your other Pokemon, but it's a possibility if you find yourself in a bad spot. More often, though, you'll want to use the Gormandize Ability to refill your hand to seven cards.

The main role for Eldegoss V CPA 5 will be to use its Happy Match Ability to return a Supporter card from your discard pile to your hand. Since there's already a lot of ways to draw additional cards in this deck, you'll most often want to return a copy of Boss's Orders RCL 154 to your hand, which will allow you the possibility to set up an easy Knock Out.

Since it's very helpful to get a copy of Porygon-Z UNB 157 in play quickly, you'll want to use Rare Candy SSH 180 to evolve most efficiently. Quick Ball SSH 179 can be used to search your deck for any Basic Pokemon, but if you really need an Evolution Pokemon, you can trade that Basic you found with Quick Ball SSH 179 for any other Pokemon from your deck by using Pokemon Communication TEU 152.

Both Professor's Research SSH 178 and Marnie SSH 169 can be used to help you draw additional cards, enabling you to find what you need more quickly. Marnie SSH 169 also helps reset your opponent's hand after they've searched their deck for specific cards.

By attaching Air Balloon SSH 156, you allow Meowth VMAX PR-SSH SWSH005 to retreat for free. Alternatively, Snorlax VIV 131 will be able to retreat by discarding a single Energy (preferably Recycle Energy UNM 212, if possible). Air Balloon SSH 156 is a good card to have in your hand in case you find yourself in a position where you need to retreat your Active Pokemon.

Wrapping Up

Meowth VMAX PR-SSH SWSH005 was the very first Pokemon VMAX we got here in America. This deck proves it still has what it takes to get the job done.
