Searching Standard: Galarian Rapidash V / Sableye V Deck

Hello and welcome to another episode of Searching Standard. Every week I bring you a deck that I find to be pretty cool. This week, I have a deck for you from a YouTuber, LittleDarkFury, that has the potential to deal massive amounts of damage. Let's get things started by looking at the decklist.

To start things out, you'll want to attack with Galarian Rapidash V PR-SSH SWSH111's Libra Horn attack. That allows you to put damage counters on any of your opponent's Pokemon until their remaining HP reaches 100. So, for example, if you target an opponent's Benched Crobat V DAA 104 with this attack, you will put 8 damage counters on Crobat V DAA 104, leaving it with 100 HP. Using Libra Horn is step one of a two-step plan.

Step two involves attacking with Sableye V SSH 120's Crazy Claws attack. This attack will deal a base of 10 damage, plus it deals 60 additional damage for each damage counter on your opponent's Active Pokemon. In order to attack the Pokemon you previously attacked with Galarian Rapidash V PR-SSH SWSH111's Libra Horn attack, you may need to play Boss's Orders SHF 58 in order to move that Pokemon into their Active Spot. To continue the previous example, Sableye V SSH 120's Crazy Claws attack would deal 490 damage to the Crobat V DAA 104 that had been previously attacked with Galarian Rapidash V PR-SSH SWSH111's Libra Horn attack.

To make sure you have enough Energy to use the attacks of both Galarian Rapidash V PR-SSH SWSH111 and Sableye V SSH 120, you'll want to lean on the Dark Squall Ability of Hydreigon DAA 110. With it, you'll be able to attach as much Darkness Energy 7 from your hand to your Pokemon as you would like.

Both Guzzlord CEC 136 and Umbreon & Darkrai-GX UNM 125 act as backup attackers for this deck. Guzzlord CEC 136's Red Banquet attack can easily Knock Out a Pokemon that you've reduced to having 100 HP, and when that happens you'll be able to draw an additional Prize card. Umbreon & Darkrai-GX UNM 125 can use its Black Lance attack to deal 150 damage, plus there's the potential to deal additional damage to an opponent's Benched Pokemon-GX. While there aren't very many Pokemon-GX that still see play these days, if you're lucky, you might score a Knock Out on a Dedenne-GX UNB 57.

This last group of Pokemon are included in this deck for their Abilities. Both Dedenne-GX UNB 57 and Crobat V DAA 104 offer you the means to draw additional cards, helping you find Darkness Energy 7 more easily. Mew UNB 76 provides a layer of protection for your Benched Pokemon with its Bench Barrier Ability.

As with most decks, you don't want to rely on pure chance to find the Pokemon you need. For that reason, this next group of cards is included in this deck. Rare Candy SSH 180 helps you go from Deino DAA 108 to Hydreigon DAA 110 right away, without needing to wait for Zweilous DAA 109. With Quick Ball SSH 179, you'll be able to search your deck for any Basic Pokemon, and Pokemon Communication TEU 152 can find any Pokemon from your deck, as long as you have a Pokemon to trade for it.

This next group of Item cards all help your team in specific ways. Cape of Toughness DAA 160 provides an extra 50 HP to the Pokemon it is attached to. A great target for this is Sableye V SSH 120, since it's a little fragile, due to only having 170 HP. Air Balloon SSH 156 can be attached to both Galarian Rapidash V PR-SSH SWSH111 and Sableye V SSH 120 to allow them to easily retreat after performing their attack (not exactly after the attack, but during your next turn... you know what I mean). However, if you don't happen to have an Air Balloon SSH 156 and need to pay a Retreat cost, you can use Energy Retrieval SSH 160 to return a couple of Darkness Energy 7 cards from your discard pile to your hand.

Skyla RCL 166 allows you to search your deck for any Trainer card to put into your hand. You'll often want to find a copy of Rare Candy SSH 180 with her, but as you can see, there are a lot of great choices to be found within this deck.

The final pair of cards in this deck are a couple of Standard staples. Both Marnie CPA 56 and Professor's Research SHF 60 offer you additional ways of drawing cards. This can help you find the Pokemon you need, and it allows you the potential of drawing additional Darkness Energy 7 cards to use.

Wrapping Up

Even though decks that feature Stage 2 Pokemon can be unreliable at times, they can also be a blast to play. With the amount of damage that this deck is capable of dealing, I'm looking forward to giving this one a try.
