Searching Standard: Corviknight VMAX / Bronzong Deck

Hello and welcome to another episode of Searching Standard. This week, we're taking a look at a deck that was recently played by YouTuber, ZapdosTCG. It features Corviknight VMAX BST 110, hitting hard and fast. Let's get started by taking a look at the deck.

Corviknight VMAX BST 110 is the main attacker in this deck, and its G-Max Hurricane attack can deal an impressive 240 damage. The down side to this attack is that it can only be used on alternating turns. Luckily, Corviknight VMAX BST 110 has no Retreat Cost, which allows you to move a powered up Pokemon from your Bench to your Active Spot so it can attack the following turn. Ultimately, your goal will be to have two copies of Corviknight VMAX BST 110 in play so they can rotate positions with one another, enabling you to use the G-Max Hurricane attack every turn.

In order to be able to attack as effectively as possible, you'll need to rely on the Energy transferring Ability of Bronzong BST 102. Its Metal Transfer Ability allows you to move Metal Energy 8 from one of your Pokemon to another of your Pokemon. Remember that Coating Metal Energy VIV 163 provides Metal Energy as long as it is attached to a Pokemon, allowing it to be moved with Bronzong BST 102's Metal Transfer Ability.

Both Zacian V SSH 138 and Zamazenta V SSH 139 act as back up attackers for this deck. Zacian V SSH 138 also has the Intrepid Sword Ability, giving you an easy way of finding Metal Energy 8 that can be attached to it. You can then move this Energy as needed with Bronzong BST 102's Metal Transfer Ability. Against a deck with Pokemon VMAX in it, Zamazenta V SSH 139 can become invaluable. Its Dauntless Shield Ability prevents all damage done to Zamazenta V SSH 139 by attacks from an opponent's Pokemon VMAX, so you can hurt them, but they can't hurt you back.

This group of Pokemon all included in this deck for their awesome Abilities. Crobat V DAA 104's Dark Asset Ability and Dedenne-GX UNB 57's Dedechange Ability both allow you to draw extra cards. Eldegoss V RCL 19's Happy Match Ability allows you to return a Supporter card from your discard pile to your hand. Your usual choice will be Cheryl BST 123, but there will be times that a different choice will be needed.

The next batch of cards can be found in most Metal Type decks. Metal Saucer SSH 170 offers you a way to attach a Metal Energy 8 from your discard pile to one of your Benched Metal Type Pokemon. With Metal Goggles TEU 148, you'll be able to reduce the amount of damage one of your Metal Type Pokemon takes from your opponent's attacks by 30 damage. Coating Metal Energy VIV 163 removes any Weakness the Pokemon it is attached to might have.

Both Professor's Research SHF 60 and Marnie SSH 169 are Standard staples that allow you to draw additional cards each turn. By drawing more cards, you'll be able to find what you need more quickly, allowing your deck to perform at its highest level as quickly as possible.

Like the previous cards, both Quick Ball SSH 179 and Pokemon Communication TEU 152 are Standard staples that can be found in most decks. These two cards help you find the Pokemon you need more quickly than you would if you had to rely on drawing them from your deck as your card drawn each turn.

With the use of Boss's Orders SHF 58, you're able to choose which of your opponent's Pokemon to attack. This can help you score a Knock Out more easily, or ensure that you're facing a Pokemon VMAX when you have Zamazenta V SSH 139 as your Active Pokemon. Switch SSH 183 and Escape Rope BST 125 can help you out by switching your Active Pokemon with one from your Bench. This can be very helpful if you only have one copy of Corviknight VMAX BST 110 in play.

With the use of Cheryl BST 123, you can ensure that Corviknight VMAX BST 110 is in tip-top shape. If you move all of the Energy from your Evolution Pokemon to one of your Basic Pokemon by using Bronzong BST 102's Metal Transfer Ability, you can play Cheryl BST 123 to heal all of your Evolution Pokemon in one fell swoop. Then, move the Energy back and continue fighting.

The final card in this deck is Chaotic Swell CEC 187. Its sole purpose is to discard up to two Stadium cards that your opponent plays that gives them an advantage of some sort.

Wrapping Up

Many people are saying that this deck is one of the best decks currently in Standard. Whether that's true or not, only time will tell. One thing is for sure, it looks like a blast to play.
