Searching Standard: Arceus & Dialga & Palkia-GX / Clay Deck

Hello and welcome to another episode of Searching Standard. This week we'll be taking a look at a deck is from YouTuber, The Slowpoke Well. It features Arceus & Dialga & Palkia-GX CEC 156. Let's get started by taking a look at the deck.

It's important to use Arceus & Dialga & Palkia-GX CEC 156's Altered Creation-GX attack as quickly as possible. That will allow you to deal an additional 30 damage with each attack. Also, it's good to try to also get the benefit of drawing an extra Prize card, if at all possible. Arceus & Dialga & Palkia-GX CEC 156 can then start using its Ultimate Ray attack, which allows you to power up the rest of your team while dealing damage to your opponent's Active Pokemon.

Mawile-GX UNM 141 has the Captivating Wink Ability that allows you to look at your opponent's hand and put any Basic Pokemon you find there onto their Bench. Try to take advantage of this by waiting to play Mawile-GX UNM 141 until you have a few ways to switch your opponent's Active Pokemon with one from their Bench, allowing you to score some easy Knock Outs.

With Zacian V SSH 138's Intrepid Sword Ability, you'll be able to cycle through your deck to find the cards you need while simultaneously attaching Metal Energy 8 to it. You can move that Energy to your other Pokemon with the help of Energy Switch SSH 162. Zacian V SSH 138 also has the Brave Blade attack with can deal a ton of damage. With Zamazenta V SSH 139, you can attack with its Assault Tackle attack, dealing 130 damage and discarding a Special Energy from your opponent's Active Pokemon. If your opponent's Active Pokemon happens to be a Pokemon VMAX, you'll also be able to prevent any damage it would do to Zamazenta V SSH 139 thanks to its Dauntless Shield Ability. This can be extremely useful when facing certain decks that rely on Pokemon VMAX.

This batch of Pokemon all are helpful supporting Pokemon. You'll never want to rely on attacking with these Pokemon, but they all have very useful Abilities. Crobat V DAA 104 and Dedenne-GX UNB 57 have Abilities that allow you to draw additional cards. Eldegoss V RCL 19 has the Happy Match Ability, which allows you to put a Supporter card from your discard pile into your hand. While there's only a few Supporters in this deck, you'll most likely want to use this Ability to gain an extra use of Boss's Orders RCL 154.

There are quite a few Item cards in this deck, and Clay CEC 188 allows you an easy way to get them into your hand, as long as their within the top seven cards of your deck. This also acts as a way of getting Energy cards into your discard pile that can be returned to play with Metal Saucer SSH 170 or Turbo Patch DAA 172.

In order to score some easier Knock Outs, you'll want to play Boss's Orders RCL 154 and Pokemon Catcher SSH 175. Choose a Pokemon that you can KO with a single attack, preferably one that provides multiple Prize cards. By using these Trainer cards in conjunction with Arceus & Dialga & Palkia-GX CEC 156's Altered Creation-GX attack and Mawile-GX UNM 141's Captivating Wink Ability, you'll find yourself drawing your last Prize card in no time.

Pal Pad SSH 172 offers you a means of shuffling two Supporter cards (preferably Boss's Orders RCL 154, if possible) back into your deck, allowing you to play them an additional time.

Every deck needs a way of finding the Pokemon it needs in order to run smoothly. Cherish Ball UNM 191 and Quick Ball SSH 179 fill that need in this deck. Keep in mind that Cherish Ball UNM 191 can only find a Pokemon-GX, while you can use Quick Ball SSH 179 to find any Pokemon in this deck. Quick Ball SSH 179 also offers you a means of discarding cards as well.

This deck has a lot of ways to discard cards, which is why it plays Marnie SSH 169 as a means of drawing new cards instead of Professor's Research SSH 178. With Marnie SSH 169, you'll be able to shuffle your hand back into your deck and draw a new hand, allowing you to keep some cards available to be played later in the game.

Since you want to have both a Metal Energy 8 and a Water Energy 3 attached to Arceus & Dialga & Palkia-GX CEC 156 in order to use its Altered Creation-GX attack right away, this deck includes a couple of copies of Viridian Forest TEU 156. With it, you can find the needed Energy right away, allowing you to start attacking for extra value as quickly as possible.

Our last couple of cards help you move your Pokemon around in battle. Switch SSH 183 allows you to move your Active Pokemon to your Bench, and have a Benched Pokemon take its place in your Active Position. Air Balloon SSH 156 reduces the Retreat Cost of your Pokemon, allowing them to move around easier. Both of these cards allow you to keep a wounded Pokemon alive longer, or bring up a fully powered Pokemon from your Bench right away.

Wrapping Up

There are many versions of decks featuring Arceus & Dialga & Palkia-GX CEC 156, but all of them are very powerful. Its Altered Creation-GX attack makes it easier to score Knock Outs and take Prize cards. I wouldn't be surprised if Arceus & Dialga & Palkia-GX CEC 156 decks remained as top tier decks until it rotates from Standard.
