Hidden Fates: Moltres & Zapdos & Articuno

Moltres & Zapdos & Articuno-GX HIF 44Welcome to our first edition of Hidden Fates articles! With the newest set released we know players are curious to see what decks can be built around its new cards. The biggest, in terms of HP and amount of Pokemon on it, card we got from Hidden Fates has to be Moltres & Zapdos & Arcticuno-GX. It's main attack not only takes four Energy, but three different types! It's certainly not easy to get that much of a variety attached to the Pokemon, but 210 damage is solid to be fair. The really fun attack it has comes in the form of Sky Legends-GX!

[C][+] Sky Legends-GX
Shuffle this Pokémon and all cards attached to it into your deck. If this Pokémon has at least 1 extra [R], [W], and [L] Energy attached to it (in addition to this attack’s cost), this attack does 110 damage to 3 of your opponent’s Pokémon. (Don’t apply Weakness and Resistance for Benched Pokémon.) (You can’t use more than 1 GX attack in a game.)

Spread around that damage and get your damaged huge attacker back into the deck? Heck yeah! Manage to knock out a big Pokemon from the opponent, put damage on another, then come in and use that extra damage to take them down! Of course you can also just snipe out Pokemon too at worse. Either way, this card can make for a seriously fun deck. We did some testing and think this is by far the best build. Ready to give it a look? Let's see some Birds In Hats!

Morgan TEU 149We're really sticking to the point with this deck and keeping it focused on just the big birds themselves. They're the star of the show! So once we have one on the field (and hopefully can pull another as backup with Cherrish Ball) how do we go about powering them up? We did a lot of testing with Rainbow Brush and Welder but found in the end it simply couldn't keep up with a focused build based around Morgan, Dana, Evelyn, and Nita. If you have all of these in hand, you can play Morgan and attach any Energy cards found in the top 12 cards of your deck. This is going to be your best chance to get a load of cards out and attached at once by far!

Thankfully there's also plenty of tools to get these cards into your hand. Outside of the fact we're already playing four of each so your odds are solid (we've had turn one plays of this in testing) you can also pull them out using Green's Adventure and/or Misty's Favor. Plus you might be able to snag the one you need simply by playing PokeGear 3.0. This does mean you may have to wait until turn two to be fully set up, but with the damage you're hoping to deal it's not the worst thing ever! To help with Energy issues as well we do include Rainbow Brush as well as Tag Switch to try and move around Energies so you have the proper ones you need.

This deck is incredibly straightforward which does make it nice to run, but we do have a couple more tools to mention. Energy Recycle System is pretty important as there's a solid chance you might end up with a lot of Energy in the discard you need to save if you do get knocked out. Reset Stamp is simply a solid tool in basically every deck so we include it here. Finally we have Power Plant which is almost essential in this deck. Keldeo-GX UNM47 can entirely shut down this deck otherwise, so it's just smart to have this to help. Not to mention stopping Mewtwo & Mew-GX certainly doesn't hurt either.

One last thing, this Tag Team card does have a major weakness: it's weakness. Yes that sentence sounded silly, but Pikachu & Zekrom-GX decks and most other Lightning based decks are going to slaughter this. Those decks still being popular, you may have a hard time. Still, we do think this can be an absolute blast to play and as long as you avoid those hard to win against decks you could have a great time with this in tournament.

We hope you liked our little spotlight on this card from Hidden Fates! We want to know what you think. Do you have a better build from this deck? Is there a card from the new set you'd like to see a deck built around? Let us know in the comments below or grill the grill herself over on Twitter @LiteralGrill. Until next time, stay lit trainers!
