Budget Blast: Little Big Party ($18)

Welcome back to another edition of Budget Blast where we show you decks that pack a punch without breaking your budget! We saw that a lot of you really enjoyed our budget deck Dinky Dragon Domination where we took some of the little guys and beefed them up to deal some serious damage. We decided to bring the general concept back for a deck that's even more fun! Have you dreamt a deck with Chimchar and Cosmog as your main attackers? If so you have specific tastes and we're happy to provide the deck you've always wanted. Let's take a look at the deck Little Big Party!

Dealing Damage

Rainbow Energy CES 151Hustle Belt CES 134Chimchar UPR 20

So both of your main attackers, Chimchar and Cosmog UNM 100 have only 40 HP and deal 20 or 10 damage respectively. So how in the world do we beef them up? First we make sure to have Hustle Belt attached. It can help bring your damage up by 60 giving you 100 or 70 damage. However, you need to be down to 30 HP to make this happen. So we've included Rainbow Energy to get you right in that perfect sweet spot! From there, you've got your main attackers ready to go.

How To Stay Alive

Mareep LOT 75Slumbering Forest UNM 207Koga's Trap HIF 59

So you attackers will only have 30HP, how in the world won't they just be knocked out immediately? We chose our main attackers for a very specific reason. They have free retreat costs! This makes it even easier to use Mareep's ability Fluffy Pillow to put the opponent to sleep. We've included U-Turn Board and Escape Board to help make your Mareep's retreat easier. Slumbering Forest can keep the opponent asleep a little bit longer as they need multiple coin flips to awake. Finally, if you're really worried, throw out Koga's Trap to leave the opponent confused as well.

Let's Set Up

Emolga TEU 46Adventure Bag LOT 167Misty's Determination HIF 62

Let's talk about getting your Pokemon onto the field. Not only can it be searched out like all of your Pokemon with Professor Elm's Lecture but it also has free retreat in case it's in the active. That's right it's Emolga! It's ability Nuzzly Gathering works really well alongside Pokemon Communication to help pull out whichever Pokemon you may need at a given moment as well. You need a lot of Pokemon Tool cards to make this deck run well so we have an abundance of Adventure Bag to facilitate getting all of them you need. PokeNav can help not only grab your Pokemon but also your Rainbow Energy. If those don't work, Misty's Determination can help at times by searching through the top eight cards of the deck for it or any other card you need.

Beef Up This Deck

Bill's Analysis HIF 51Cynthia UPR 119

This is another budget deck where for the most part adding more expensive cards you may already have around in your collection simply isn't that helpful. However, there are still a couple of options. Bill's Analysis is always going to be a bit stronger than Misty's Determination and could be included for that reason. There's also Cynthia to try and provide more draw power than Tate & Liza can manage.

Lysandre Labs FLI 111Switch CES 147

There's no way around it, if your opponent plays Lysandre Labs this deck is going to fall apart fast unless you get it off the field. You absolutely need your Hustle Belt to be working to deal enough damage, alongside Escape Board and U-Turn Board to move your Mareep around. If the opponent is running it, make sure it's out of the way if you can. Finally, pure switching power can hurt this deck. If the opponent can simply get around you putting them to sleep you won't really be able to keep alive for long. We do have an Oranguru if you are desperate to get some tools back, but if you're at that point, you're probably losing too many prizes to make the comeback.

We hope you enjoyed Little Big Party! We'd love to hear what you have to say about it, especially if you gave it a try. Tell us in the comments below or let the deck builder herself know directly over on Twitter @LiteralGrill. Until next time, stay lit trainers!
